The Hallway

Painted the hallway and hung the artwork. I used a rich cadet blue paint for the walls and a warm gold on the doors while continuing the almond trim. I will buy a large floor mirror with a dark, heavy wood trim to lean against the wall as well as a console table to serve as a landing strip and for mail to pile up on.

Everything in off-white. Boring.

The Dining Room

Well the next room I painted after the living room and kitchen was the dining room. Sticking with what I hope are “classic” colors (you-know…timeless) and in this case, “historic” colors I went with this more saturated green. I think I chose well, and to convince myself even more, Pantone chose this color, as well as 4 of the other 5 colors I have chosen for my house as the top ten colors of 2010. I chose those colors BEFORE the list came out, so that makes me pretty much the authority on interior paint colors and the authority on being awesome. What of the other color that did not make the list? That was the red for my living room which made the 2009 list. UUGH my living room is SO 2009…yawn…

Historic green color picked by pantone as one of the top 10 colors of 2010. I am so ahead of the game.

Crappy iPhone photo of my curtains. They went from being the rod-pocket type to the hidden-tab-type after I attacked them with scissors. Now they have a taylored look. Sweet.

Look, if I have a proper dining room, then we will have more proper meals. Scientific Fact. Look at this breakfast I made.

And so the dining room became my art studio as well, since Scott feels crowded when I put my work in his studio what with my treadmill already stuffed into the music studio as well.

Next up will be my hallway. Turns out my hallway is annoyingly big. It has taken me weeks to finish, but mostly due to my laziness.

Winter Farmers Market on Free Street

Went to the winters farmers market on free street that debuted Saturday. It will be open every Saturday at 10am. Scott and I went there in the morning but it was already mobbed by then, makes sense for its opening day.

As expected there were a lot of root veggies. Surprisingly, there were vendors offering olive oils, soy products like tempeh, and the good stuff like meats and eggs. I bought a bag of multi-colored carrots for $5 and roasted them, they were delicious.

To fit in I brought along my canvas tote (did anyone notice it was a Hannafor tote? *gasp*) so I “did my part”. We walked there too, so SUCK IT to those that drove in their earth-killers. I think I totally made up for the fast that I replaced all the CFLs in my house with regular bulbs because it is better on my eyes. For extra awesomeness, I threw out the perfectly working and lead-filled CFLs. Ok for reals, I am saving the CFLs for later use…but I really hate the orange/green glow they give off it makes me sick.

Grace Restautant, Portland Maine

I have to say, Grace is a weird place…like it should be a night club instead, the scale is off. The atmosphere is off. Something is off. I had food there and it was good, not GREAT but not bad. The drinks were also ok. Sitting at the bar is weird though because you are in the middle of an empty room. Whenever I have gone, there were not a lot of people or it was all the 30′s Portland professional wanna-be blogger networky types.

Their drink menu is one big missed opportunity. They really could have gone far with the religion-themed drink names.

Kitchen Walls

Here is the door wall leading to the hallway, it is lavendar and the walls to the left and right are eggplant

Having finished painting my living room, my next room is the Kitchen. The goal is to create a space in the whole apartment that flows from room to room especially the hallway, living room, dining room, and kitchen area because those rooms are more open to each other.

In the kitchen I chose to paint the walls eggplant. It looks hip and modern and I couldn’t be more pleased. I chose to paint the two longest walls of this galley style kitchen eggplant while painting the two other walls opposite each other, a lighter color to keep the space from becoming a dark cave. One wall is the window wall, and the opposite wall is the entrance to the hallway, so that when you are walking towards the kitchen from the hallway, you first see the window wall.

I chose to paint it a lavender but as I am painting it, I am not as excited about the color as I am with the eggplant. I am having second thoughts. I feel it takes away from the modern look the eggplant gave and is making the kitchen too feminine. The colors coordinate well but I am just not sure about the overall look. I have yet to paint the trim (almond) so maybe that will help.

The options are leaving it, painting it eggplant so all walls are the same color, or painting over it a more neutral off-white or very light gray.

Apartment Transformation

Been slowly making my space livable. Built a loft bed and got furniture, the wrong coffee table, hung tons of art… I just need to get more organized, buy a dining table and deck out my dining space which will be under the loft. That area will be romantic with curtains and lighting.

Going for the modern, soft industrial, romantic bohiemian look so we shall see!

Love Muffin Top Handles

One week to work off the love handles. I can still fit into the size 3 dress thank god but I don’t look as good in it as I did last year…

Baristers Ball is the event and I need to look smokin’ as I need the boost.

Back to the gym running my ass off.

That’s it. Also I am broke. So very broke.
